Repack the Backpack enjoys most successful event to date

Some attendees are claiming that the crowd at this year’s Repack the Backpack expo event was the largest it has ever seen.

About 300 students and parents were at the event on January 9, where people donated school supplies so that children have the Stationery they need to start the new school semester. More than 40 local businesses and organizations were there to provide the supplies. Promotional Products such as school supplies are always welcome at such events.

Every business and organization had its own table where representatives spoke with parents about the services they offer. Spokespeople from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, local Head Start programs, and the Coweta County School System were there to talk up their childcare and tuition programs.

Carol Prince, who is the Coweta County Family Connection’s executive director, said the group’s strategy for this year is to make sure parents are aware of the resources available to them.

Parents were also given the chance to speak to officials from the Health Department, the Housing Authority, and health insurance organizations. Alfrieda Thomas from the Housing Authority of Newnan mentioned that her table ran out of supplies for the first time ever.

Prince also said that she is grateful for all the people involved who made this the best Repack the Backpack event to date, and hopes that the next ones will be as successful.
