Newnan’s The Nixon Centre for the Arts is hosting a concert by The Association this September.
Originating from the 1960s, The Association has six certified gold-selling records and three platinum records to their name, with their The Association Greatest Hits becoming double-platinum and one of Warner Brothers’ best-selling albums.
In 1970, The Association received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song for “Goodbye Columbus.”
Formed in 1965, the band remains active to this day, albeit with a slightly different lineup. Two original members still remain: Jules Alexander and Jim Yester. However, original member Russ Giguere is now managing the group.
In 2020, The Association released Goldmine, their first new album since 1972.
Operating in the rock subgenre known as sunshine pop, The Association is known for its vocal harmonies across several band members, with each musician taking turns as the lead singer.
With seven Grammy nominations under its name, The Association is showing no Signs of slowing down, with newer additions to the band being Bruce Pictor, Paul Holland and bass player Joe Lamanno.
