Tina Cannon, a chef from Newnan, has been invited to be a contestant on a new cooking show.
The eight-part show brings together some of the best competitive barbeque chefs and backyard smokers from across the country, and only one of them will earn the right to call themselves the American Barbeque Champion. Lyric Lewis and Rutledge Wood will be hosting the show and it will be judged by Melissa Cookston and Kevin Bludso.
Cannon is the World Food Championships’ current BBQ champion, having been taught how to smoke meat by her grandfather when she was a child. She was also trained in France to be a professional chef and showcases her skills 20 different barbeque competitions every year. When she is not competing, she hones her culinary skills at a local restaurant. A press release for the show said about Cannon:
“The Southern Belle’ comes equipped with her pearls around her neck and prides herself on her ability to cook all styles of barbeque. Pigs and pearls is Tina’s ‘idea of heaven’ and barbeque is her true passion.”
The other chefs vying for the crown include Georgia Chasen from Rockville, Rasheed Philips from Atlanta, and Ashley Thompson from Georgia. Poster printing is one way such competitions are often advertised.
All eight episodes of the American Barbeque Showdown will be available to Netflix subscribers across the world on Friday, September 18.
