The company plans to set up a warehouse with 1 million sq ft of floor space in a location known as Cubes of Bridgeport in Newnan. Employees at this facility will be tasked with packing and shipping products that are ordered through Amazon, which is the largest e-commerce website in the world. Large companies tend to have their logo designs printed on the Boxes used for shipping.
Governor Brian Kemp supports the new development and believes that Amazon’s decision to set up shop in Georgia is a testament to the states’ high-quality logistical infrastructure, great climate for business, and a nationally-rated workforce. The governor also said:
“I am grateful for their continued partnership and looking forward to the opportunities this facility will create for hardworking Georgians and their families in Coweta County.”
Officials from Amazon did not comment on when they believe the construction of the new warehouse will be complete.
This project in Newnan is the second major project that Amazon has planned for the metro Atlanta region in the past year. In July, Amazon made public its plans to build another warehouse in Gwinnett County that will employ 1000 people when it is ready and construction has already begun. These warehouses are a part of Amazon’s plan to expand its shipping network and improve efficiency.
