What's Happening in Gainesville, GA…

Gainesville downtown offers Halloween family fun

Gainesville will be getting into the Halloween spirit this fall, with a special celebration scheduled for the community's downtown core.

For three hours on Halloween afternoon, the shopping district will be transformed into Trick or Treat on the Square. The event is designed for both kids and their parents alike, and everyone may come in costume.

The merchants and other establishments that participate in the function will be handing out treats, and there will be scarecrows on display to view and include in photo ops. Each venue that hands out candy will have a specially prepared balloon out front or in its window to indicate they have goodies on hand, and a costume contest is in the works. A map will be provided in advance so families can plan their route, and details will also be provided about any road closures and tips for finding free parking.

Downtown businesses that would like to join the fun by setting up a candy kiosk are asked to submit an application to do so by no later than October 19th. They can give away candy and kid-friendly promotional products to the kids that drop by, and the fee to reserve a spot is $55.00 each.

Gainesville’s families will get the chance to attend this spooky celebration on October 31st. The event’s website provides all necessary information for parents as well as any interested businesses.
