Gainesville offers outdoor experiential learning

A Gainesville venue that offers learning opportunities for families who homeschool will be welcoming young learners for a session that will develop their outdoor winter survival skills.

The Northeast Georgia History Center has organized its “Surviving Winter: Homeschool Intensive Class” for kids in grades 6 through 12. There are two options in the works, each accommodating up to 30 students.

The registration fee for the activity starts at $20 for what will be an immersive experience. It will explore various ways people throughout history have survived winter, and everyone will be able to develop their own skills. It will be led by SARCRAFT’s Alexander Bryant, and it will be a hands-on session held outdoors. Experiential learning will be the order of the day, and everyone should arrive dressed for the weather and prepared to spend some time outside. It will be a drop-off activity, but parents or guardians are welcome to view the fun from inside the History Center.

Organizers of special learning events often reach out to Stationery printers to supply them with certificates of completion for the participants, as well as a variety of learning materials. They will be happy to help and can work with most budgets.

The Surviving Winter: Homeschool Intensive Class will be offered next Thursday, January 15 at 322 Academy Street NE. Its Patch listing offered a registration link.
