As part of an effort to honor the role bees play in our society – and to celebrate Decatur being the first-ever Georgia city to be named “Bee City USA,” – Decatur officials have announced that they will play host to a National Pollinator Week Festival in June.
This family-friendly event will allow all participants to learn more about what bees do for our community and what makes Decatur a Bee City USA, and have a great time. According to event officials, planned events include face painting and food vendors, including popsicles sold by the King of Pops.
A variety of local experts will speak about what bees do, why the bee population must be protected, and what actions event attendees can take to support these vital insects.
Officials have also noted that there will be wide array of vendors at the festival. Attendees will have a chance to check out these small businesses, pick up Promotional Products, and learn more about the various services available in their community.
The event is being held on Saturday, June 22. It will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and is taking place at Decatur Square, 101 E. Court. The event is free for all to attend, but additional services may cost extra. Businesses interested in participating in the vendor fair are encouraged to contact event organizers.
