Decatur to participate in Mardi Gras

The Mead Road Mardi Gras (MRMG) will return to Decatur this March. It is being organized by a board of Decatur volunteers.

This year's event will mark its 20th year of bringing a Louisiana-style celebration to the community. The annual event features a parade followed by an after-party, which are both free and open to the public.

Participants can join the parade by forming a “krewe” with family, friends, or community groups. Registration fees vary, with a $25 entry for families and community organizations, $50 for businesses, and no cost for local schools. The event also offers opportunities for sponsorships, with contributions supporting the learning of arts in Decatur academies.

Spectators can line the parade path to collect beads and other themed throws. The celebration will conclude with an after-party featuring food, drinks, and live entertainment. Families can support the event by purchasing a Lagniappe Family Supporter packet, which includes a commemorative T-shirt, lawn sign, and a special parade throw.

For additional information and registrations, attendees can visit the official event listing. Those with questions can contact the event organizers. Banner printing may be used to make the wider community aware of upcoming gatherings such as this one.

The parade will take place on Saturday, March 1, beginning at 1 pm at Fifth Avenue Upper Elementary, which can be found at 101 5th Ave in Decatur, Georgia.
