A literary and cultural gathering highlighting Black women-owned bookstores, authors and local entrepreneurs is set to return to Decatur this summer. The Black Girl Book Fair will bring together readers, writers and community members for a day focused on literature, creativity and connection.
The event will feature a collection of independent booksellers from across the Atlanta area, offering visitors an opportunity to browse carefully selected titles while meeting bookstore owners and fellow book enthusiasts.
Attendees can expect appearances by recognized authors, music throughout the day, specialty vendors and a variety of products connected to reading and creativity. Journals, writing supplies, stickers and other literary-themed items will be available alongside handmade goods from participating businesses. Food options will also be offered through nearby restaurant partners.
Several bookstores are expected to participate, including Brave + Kind Bookshop, The Book Cellar, All Things Inspiration, The Book Worm Bookstore, 44th and 3rd Bookseller, and A Small Place Books. Organizers also noted that a portion of restaurant proceeds generated during the event will support literacy initiatives and community-based programs serving children and families.
Admission to the event is free. However, visitors may purchase a limited-edition Black Girl Book Fair mini tote priced at $17.85, which includes a $2.85 service fee.
As with many public literary events, organizers often use printing services to produce promotional materials, and informational handouts.
The Black Girl Book Fair will take place on Saturday, July 11, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Brave and Kind Books, 722 W. College Ave, Decatur, Georgia.
