A weeklong creative program for children will take place in Decatur this summer, offering participants hands-on instruction in visual arts, collaborative design, and public installation work.
The camp, titled Art Adventures: Mural Makers, is intended for children ages 6 through 9 and will focus on large-scale artistic expression and community engagement.
The program will introduce campers to the planning and execution of painted wall art and outdoor creative displays. Participants will also experiment with photography, sculpture, and printmaking while learning how movement, environment, and storytelling influence artistic design. Organizers said the camp encourages teamwork and self-expression through practical projects guided by instructors.
A major aspect of the event will involve students contributing to a long-term public artwork displayed at Legacy Park in Decatur. At the end of the event, families and caregivers will be invited to view completed pieces during a final showcase presentation.
Tuition for the camp is listed at $450 per participant. Members affiliated with Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) at the Family and Friends level or higher are eligible for a discounted registration price of $350.
Event organizers frequently use poster printing to promote educational camps such as this one.
Art Adventures: Mural Makers is scheduled from Monday, June 8, through Friday, June 12th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities will be held at Legacy Park, 500 South Columbia Drive, Decatur, Georgia. Different aspects of the programming will also take place at Georgia Tech’s Hinman Research Building in Atlanta.
