Special grant enables diverse downtown marketplace

Snellville will be holding a Pop-Up Public Marketplace later this month that is expected to draw hundreds of visitors.

Made possible by a grant of $15,000 from the Atlanta Regional Commission, the Pop-Up Public Marketplace will be across from the Snellville Police Department on Wisteria Drive, on 10.5 acres of land owned by the city. It will be an experiential event showcasing local entrepreneurs and businesses as part of the business concept of the Towne Center @ Snellville, which showcases the diversity of locally owned businesses.

The Snellville Arts Commission, Snellville Tourism and Trade, Downtown Development Authority of Snellville, Community Garden @ Snellville, and Snellville Farmers’ Market are sponsors of the marketplace.

There will be planters along Wisteria Drive so as to create a lane for bicyclists, and tables will be part of a white tablecloth restaurant. A farm-to-table menu will be prepared by a local chef. The vision of a perfect Snellville will be created in a space by the students from South Gwinnett High School.

Eric Van Otteren, the Economic Development Manager for the city, commented that this event will show how businesses organizations and the community can come together to serve people of all interest and ages, and experience how a lifelong community looks and feels.

The Marketplace will be on May 16. Organizers of the event are most likely turning to a local Print company to help publicize the event with colorful Flyers and Posters.
