Green-fingered folk in Snellville are being urged to get out into their gardens and start growing, with the city's Community Garden sponsoring two courses in vegetable gardening over the next few weeks.
The courses, which are free to attend, will be presented by Gwinnett County Extension agent Tim Daly.
The first course takes place next week, on the evening of Tuesday, February 17. The Soil Basics for Vegetable Gardening course will teach about everything guests could want to know about the unsung hero of gardening – soil.
With soil being the most crucial component in growing plants, the course will explain the vital work the nutrients and water in the soil do to grow healthy vegetables and plants, and how understanding ways to get the best from it can keep the garden healthy and attractive.
The course will be hosted in the City Hall Community Room at 2342 Oak Road. Registration for the event has already closed, with time needed for the organizers to ensure there are enough materials in place for everyone in the class.
Registration is, however, still open for the upcoming event next month. The next course takes place on March 17 and is titled 'Spring/Summer Vegetable Gardening'.
Teaching about the variety of vegetables that are available to grow, registration for this one is required by March 10.
