The Lakeside High School has an award-winning band and it will be showcasing its students’ musical talents at an event that is free to the public. Music lovers from nearby towns such as Decatur are invited to attend.
The concert will be held at 7 pm on 7th November at the Fine Arts Auditorium located at the school. This concert is now becoming a fall tradition where students from all grades take attendees on a musical journey that incorporates themes from several timelines and cultures. The music played will include influences from Bach and Yagisawa. It will also incorporate soundtracks from the old west and Pompeii’s destruction. Some of the songs played are inspired by the beauty of the cherry blossoms in Japan.
Dr. David Fairchild, the school’s director of bands, is in charge of organizing the concert. When asked about the concert, he said:
“The students, music faculty, parents and community al look forward to this annual concert. I invite the community to come and enjoy a wonderful evening of music. I am sure everyone will be impressed by how much the students have accomplished.”
The concert is free to the public. Cash donations, Corporate Gifts such as new instruments, and Promotional Products such as props and carrier cases are welcome. The band recently held a cheesecake sale to help raise money for the event. The money raised will also be used to repair and purchase instruments, pay guest instructors, and cover competition fees.
