A nature walk is planned for Decatur residents seeking more knowledge of nature and geology, with the adventure set for next month.
The Geology Walk with Bill Witherspoon will begin shortly, and individuals in the Decatur region will want to reserve their spots to learn from one of the foremost geology experts in Georgia. The walk will take registered guests through nature while providing a friendly lecture on geological time frames.
Witherspoon will lead the walk through Mason Mill Park, leading participants to rocks that are over 350 million years old. He will also provide insights into why the South Fork Peachtree Creek takes the path it does through the park. Attendees can expect to walk for a total of two hours through the park, covering between two and three miles. The paths will be a mix of paved walking trails, soft-surface paths, and boardwalks.
