Officials from Visit Decatur have released the schedule for the upcoming 4th of July celebrations to be held throughout Decatur.
The various events will allow locals the opportunity to check out local businesses, pick up Business Cards from attending vendors, spend time with neighbors, and enjoy the holiday.
According to officials, the celebrations will occur in three parts. The Pied Piper Parade starts at 6:00 pm and will feature floats, wagons, bicycles, and other local organizations. The parade will take place throughout the downtown area.
Live music will begin at 7:00 pm at the community bandstand. A variety of local bands and musicians will play until 9:00 pm. Officials have not yet released the schedule of bands to play.
Fireworks are expected to begin at dark, or around 9:00 pm. There is no rain date listed for the fireworks display.
In between events and throughout the day, residents are encouraged to shop at local businesses and explore stores that they might not have been in before. Many businesses will be open throughout the day.
All events take place at 101 E. Court Square, Decatur. Events are free, but there will be additional charges to purchase food or drink from nearby vendors. No pre-registration is necessary, but officials are encouraging attendees to arrive as early as possible to get a good seat.
