The John Wylde Center has announced it will be hosting an event that will allow Decatur residents to learn how to build a bee habitat.
The event, entitled “Backyard Builders: Making A Home for Mason Bees,” is meant to help address the consistent bee shortages currently being seen throughout the country.
The event, which is geared toward children, will have multiple components, such as educating kids about the importance of mason bees, what they are, and how everyone can get involved in helping these bees survive. The event will conclude with the construction of a mason bee home – complete with decorations – that kids can hang in their backyards.
The event takes place on Saturday, March 4. There are multiple times, including 10:30 – 11:30 or 12:00 – 1:00. The program will take place at the Edgewood Community Center, which is located at 1503 Hardee Street, Atlanta, so only a few miles from Decatur.
Tickets are $8 per child for Wylde Center Members and $16 for non-members. Individuals can register as a Wylde Center Member to get discount before the event. Venues and organizers offer use flyer printing to get the word out about this sort of event.
