The city of Decatur has recently announced that it will soon be proceding to Phase IV of its reopening plans; a decision made based on current COVID-19 data and trends.
The Dekalb County COVID-19 patient numbers fell from 1,997 cases per 100,000 residents on January 11 down to the recent April 13 accounting of 433 per 100,000. As a result, Decatur is removing more of its COVID-19 restrictions and will, as of May 2, reopen all of its buildings.
Details of the changes included in Phase IV include:
• The opening of all Decatur government buildings to the public beginning May 2, 2022
• Those entering the city’s buildings will not be required to take part in attendance tracking or temperature Checks

Although facial coverings will be encouraged, they will not be required for indoor group settings. Maintaining a six-foot social distance will still be encouraged and the appropriate signage will still be used. Heavily used spaces will continue to be frequently cleaned and sanitized. As always, those not feeling well are urged to stay home.
Included in the city’s announcement was a note that although officials were hopeful that cases will keep going down in numbers, any changes to this will cause them to “respond appropriately.”
