Commissioners of Gwinnett County recently approved the spending of $1m to renovate Ronald Reagan Park in Lawrenceville.
As it is a popular recreation destination in the County, the residents of Snellville most likely enjoy the facilities of the park in their leisure time.
The park is 25 acres in size and is located on Five Forks Trickum Road. It first opened in 2004. Money for the renovations will come from a federal grant in the amount of $100,000 and a special-purpose, local-option sales tax.
According to Charlotte Nash, Chairperson of the Commission, the promise was to use these tax funds to improve and maintain parks in the County. The renovation of Ronald Reagan Park is a good example of how the County is living up to its promise.
The park currently offers horseshoe pits, shuffleboard and bocce ball courts, two half-basketball courts, and a playground. The renovations will include improvements to the dog park, the trail system and three bridges in the park, and the skate park. There will be other enhancements to the landscaping, storm drainage, parking, and stream bank stabilization.
Brochure printing services may be used by the County to inform people of the work that will be done in the park, and the enhancements it will provide for leisure activities in the area.
