The 2019 Amplify Decatur Concert Series, which was held in April, raised more than $45,000 – making it the highest amount the event has ever raised in a single year since it started in 2011.
Brochure and flyer printing for the event showed that it was presented by Lenz, which is a marketing agency. The music festival was held on Saturday, April 13, and it featured performances from Mavis Staples, Jeff Tweedy, Julien Baker, and several other talented musicians. That same afternoon, a Q&A session was held with Jon Hamm, a famous actor who appeared in ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Baby Driver’. The organizers were able to raise funds thanks to ticket sales and the involvement of platinum sponsors such as the Leafmore Group and Oakhurst Realty Partners.
The event was hosted by a nonprofit group called Amplify My Community, which has raised a total of $235,000 since the inaugural event. All of it has all been donated to the Decatur Cooperative Ministry. The DCM uses that money to help the homeless and those living in poverty within Dekalb County.
DCM specializes in moving homeless families, or families who are about to become homeless, into stable homes. These families are given access to 90 days of emergency housing, transitional housing for as long as six months, permanent and serviced housing for those with disabilities, and financial assistance for families that face the threat of eviction.
Amplify My Community also holds events in Atlanta, Athens, Suwanee, Tennessee, and several other cities in numerous states.
