Tampa Bay History Center will be holding two official Independence Day events, one indoors and the other outdoors, to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday.
Indoors from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, the Center will be screening a Smithsonian Documentary, A Star-Spangled Story: Battle for America. The documentary will explore the War of 1812, the burning of Washington, D.C., The Battle of Baltimore and the story of how Francis Scott Key penned the poem that eventually became the lyrics to our national anthem the Star-Spangled Banner. The program will be 51 minutes long and will be shown at the top of every hour.
The cost will be regular museum admission ($18.95) and guests may view the galleries before the screening. The museum is located at 801 Water Street.
From 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, the festivities will turn outside with the Liberty by the Bay, a large outdoor festival that the Center is co-hosting with the City of Tampa. Festivities will include family activity zones, live performances and music, local vendors, food trucks and historical presentations.
A drone show will begin at 9:00 pm followed by fireworks exploding over the river beginning around 9:30 pm.
Admission to the festival will be free and will take place at the Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, 1001 N Boulevard.
Institutions like the museum have their brochure printing done by local Print shops months before the new season begins.
