Ushering in fall here in Tampa, Rock the Park Summer Series will be celebrating its 15th anniversary in early September, and the Sleeping Beauty Light Show Ballet will be coming in mid-September.
The Rock the Park 15th Anniversary will be a free downtown concert featuring the Sooza Brass Band and Have Gun Will Travel. Authentic Jamaican food will be available for purchase from the Jam Dish, and other goodies will be available from Boy Named Sous.
Rock the Park 15th Anniversary concert will take place Thursday, September 4 beginning at 6:30 pm at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N Ashley Drive.
Tampa families are also invited to attend the We Call It Ballet: Sleeping Beauty in a Dazzling Light Show that blends classic ballet with fiber optics lights and glow-in-the-dark costumes. Six talented local dancers will be performing an abridged version of the timeless tale of finding true love, on a dreamscape stage.
Tickets are $45, $50, and $60. Children must be eight years old or older.
This 60-minute version of Sleeping Beauty Ballet will take place at Centro Asturiano de Tampa, 1913 North Nebraska Avenue, on Saturday, September 20 at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. This production will not have an intermission, and late arrivals will not be seated.
