Currently underway on select nights at Universal Studios in Orlando is Mardi Gras, a tradition like no other at the attraction.
The evenings start with concerts on the Universal Music Plaza Stage. Coming up are Jessie J and Yandel. Each night, authentic zydeco bands from Louisiana will also be playing.
A dazzling parade winds its way down the streets of Universal Studios with floats designed by Blaine Kern Studios, creators of authentic Mardi Gras floats in New Orleans, along with colorful costumes, street performers and dancers, and stilt walkers. Close to 1.7 million beads are expected to be tossed to the audience during the parade.
The viewing area for the Little Jester's Parade is available one hour before the parade starts and is a private parade experience for children.
At the French Quarter Courtyard, New Orleans cuisine can be purchased. Featured are such dishes as shrimp gumbo, grilled Andouille sausage, and spicy jambalaya. Warm, sweet beignet, a freshly made fried doughnut, will also be available for purchase.
After the concert and all other festivities, at Universal Citywalk, there is more New Orleans themed music, food, and fun until 2:00 am.
Mardi Gras runs at Universal Studios until April 16. Universal Studios might consider working with banner printing company to create Mardi Gras-themed Banners to display along the parade route and elsewhere to enhance the celebratory atmosphere throughout the park.
