A one-day music festival coming to Orlando will focus on music inspired by the city’s Caribbean diaspora. Rising Vibes will feature some of the top reggae and ska acts.
The acts already announced are made up of bands who emerged from, or were inspired by, the 1990s punk scene, which often took inspiration from reggae and ska and blended it with more traditional punk rock. This includes headliners The Expendables, a punk-reggae band known for upbeat anthems, and ska-punk veterans the Mad Caddies, both hailing from California. Also on the bill are Florida natives The Supervillains, who have toured with many of the genre’s biggest acts and former Beach Boy Mike Love, whose solo music draws on Caribbean sounds.
The festival is set to be an outdoor event, and plans to go on rain or shine. Music festivals, often advertised through poster printing and banner printing, are increasingly popular as a way for music lovers to see multiple major acts without stressing about the limited and often expensive tickets for conventional concerts. Rising Vibes, in its first year, is starting a lot smaller than other festivals, but as the name suggests, it will be looking to put on a great show and rise in esteem.
The Rising Vibes Festival will take place at the Orlando Ampitheater on February 22.
