Happy Trails Animal Rescue is hoping to cut down on the amount animals being brought to shelters by offering free dog training and other services at their new resource center. The Community Resource Center will be located in East Orlando.
Citing housing and training as the two biggest reasons pets are given up, the center will focus on providing the free training as a means to cut back on the number of people who are not able to keep their pets for behavioral reasons. Plans to open the center had been worked by volunteers for the last two years as they banded together to hold fundraisers and auctions to come up with the financing to make their dream a reality.
The space they are leasing had to be converted to include air conditioning and areas for training and clinics. With the support of several local businesses who offered their services for free, including GSE Drywall, Del-Air Heating and Air Conditioning, and Precision Granite & Flooring, the volunteer’s dreams came to life. Other businesses can get behind initiatives like this with flyer printing, which can enable them to hand out information to their customers on all the center has to offer.
Along with the training sessions, the center will offer spay and neuter services, as well as flea and tick medications at reduced prices.
The Community Resource Center will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. On Tuesday the hours are 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to noon. The center is located at 1720 N. Goldenrod Road, Unit 8.
