MegaCon, one of Orlando’s biggest conventions for fans of pop culture, science fiction, and fantasy, will be making a return this August.
The convention typically features an array of celebrity guests participating in panels, autograph signings, and meet-and-greets, and this year is no exception. Headlining the show are the quartet of Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan, famous for playing the quartet of hobbits at the center of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Other guests include William Shatner, George Takei, and Brett Spiner of Star Trek, Doctor Who’s Christopher Eccleston and John Barrowman. Other guests will include well-known cosplayers, voice actors, comic creators, and video game streamers.
In addition to the guests, Megacon will contain a number of events designed to appeal to a variety of fans. There will be over 400, 000 square feet of vendors and artists, offering everything from custom drawings to rare Promotional Products. Well-known artists will go head to head in “sketching duels”, while workshops provide hands-on experience with a number of art and technology Forms. There will be a number of events focused on creating fan costumes, or cosplay, including the Megacon Orlando Cosplay Craftsmanship Cup and a red carpet walk.
The 2021 edition of the Orlando Megacon will take place at the Orange County Convention Center between August 12 and 15.
