The Invictus Games Orlando for 2016 will be coming to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando.
This is an international sporting event for veterans and members of the service who are wounded, ill, or injured. There will 500 competitors from 15 nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and the Netherlands. A total of 10 sports will be featured that range from wheelchair basketball and rugby to powerlifting, indoor rowing, and road cycling. A new sport for this year’s game will be wheelchair tennis.
Banners might be used by the supporters of the competitors to cheer them on during their respective events.
A Family Program is on the schedule, with a welcome event for competitors and their families the day before the competition starts. The Opening Ceremony will include musical performances by James Blunt and Laura Wright, as well as numerous military performances bt bands from the United States Army, Navy, and Air Force. Injured servicemen LCpl John-James Chalmers, MSgt Israel Del Toro Jr., and Louis Nethercott will also give first-person narratives.
An international symposium by President George W. Bush and the Bush Institute will be held on the first day, with experts discussing how servicemen and women can undergo a successful transition back to civilian life.
The Games will be held from May 8 through May 12.
