The space at the Museum of Archaeology, Paleontology & Science (MAPS) in New Port Richey has recently been refurbished and is now open to the public.
The space has an exhibit of archaeological, historical, and natural items from Africa, the Greeks and Romans, Egypt, and native Americans.
Among the topics that can be seen are Florida history and prehistory; marine archaeology; Hollywood depictions of archaeology and Hollywood paleontology; as well as the history of weapons, money, tools and other human inventions.
There is also an interactive outdoor space, and the public can get a close look at exhibits that are getting ready to be displayed.
The operation of MAPS relies on volunteers and donations. It is an interactive, family-friendly museum and holds many special events and activities throughout the year. It can also provide space for birthday parties and other types of events, opportunities for field work, and lectures as well as international trips. These trips are organized through the departments of paleontology and archeology at the museum, which has active dig sites in Canada, the United States, Greece, Cyprus, and Central America.
Such museums often turn to flyer printing to provide more details about exhibits and other special offerings.
MAPS can be found on Orchid Lake Road in New Port Richey, on the campus of Wendell Krinn Technical High School, and is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays, with special events often taking place on Sundays.
