The R2 Pub is planning to open in the space on Tee Time Circle once occupied by the River Ridge Golf Club in New Port. Richey. It has been vacant since 2021.
Jeff Jennings, general manager, said the project began over the summer with the goal of converting the space as it had not been used for quite some time. He said that the former golf club will become a American Irish pub, with high-top dining. He said the concept is unique in that there will not be any booths, but some old church pews will be used for seating.
Once it gets it liquor license, R2 Pub will have a cocktail program, a full liquor bar, and a menu of food items that will feature sports bar and classic Irish cuisine. Jennings said that it will be a blend of traditional sports bar items along with Irish heritage items. He said he has a recipe for bangers and mash that is from his Irish ancestors.
There will also be private event space and a rentable banquet space. Plans for the future may include a high-end cigar bar. Such updated spaces and their unique concepts can benefit from brochure printing to promote themselves throughout a city.
Jennings said that his goal with this new establishment is to offer St. Patrick’s Day seven days a week throughout the year. No opening date has been announced.
