Construction has started on Nebraska Avenue in downtown New Port Richey as part of the Railroad Square Improvement Project.
This project will design parts of the street east of Grand Boulevard. The initiative will include converting service lines that are overhead to underground service wherever this is practical, in addition to lighting in a café style, and hardscape improvements such as seating areas, stamped pavement, shade structures, planters, and the creation of green space. This will include additional seating areas, swings, artificial turf, and an activity area.
There will also be the construction of dumpsters, improvements to existing parking areas for the public, and upgrades to Cavalier Square. Finally, traffic patterns will be changed so that traffic will flow in a westerly direction from Adams Street to Grand Boulevard on Nebraska Avenue. The goal of this is to maximize public space along the avenue.

Debbie Manns, city manager, said that this will be a new standard for the city in terms of the amenities that will be offered. Manns added that the downtown area is starting to be noticed by people and should be a place that people will want to go to.
This is the first phase of the Railroad Square Improvement Project. The complete project is expected to be completed by March of 2026.Get a Free Quote for Flyers Get a Free Quote for Brochures Get a Free Quote for Print
