The official logo of the upcoming Centennial Celebration of the city of New Port Richey has been unveiled by the City Council.
A year ago, a Logo Design contest was held by the city. The contest invited artists to submit designs that captured, in a visual way, the distinct character of the city.
The Centennial Steering Committee reviewed the submissions. Members of the committee include David Shrader, chair; Judy DeBella Thomas, vice chair; and Mayor Chopper Davis, Bob Langford, Angel Cook, Heather Fiorentino, and Bonnie Martin as members.
The winning logo they selected was designed by Gumbo Rein, an artist and traveling creative spirit who looks for meaningful ways to contribute art to towns and cities across the country.
Rein said that New Port Richey has the vibe of a small town that resonated with him. He added that the town has many unique historical assets that have been celebrated with adaptive re-use throughout the years.
Among the most iconic landmarks to which the official logo pays tribute include the Pasco Building, the Richey Suncoast Theater, and the Hacienda Hotel. The logo also features Pithlachascotee River prominently in its foreground, as a symbol of one of the defining characteristics of the city as a waterfront community.
The logo will be displayed by those organizations affiliated with the Centennial Steering Committee of the city.Get a Free Quote for Logo Design
