Housing for veterans to come to New Port Richey

Construction is underway on Magnolia Oaks in New Port Richey. This will be the first complex to be affordable housing exclusively for low-income veterans.

The project is on Massachusetts Avenue on a property that spans 9.8 acres. It will have 77 housing units, a community building, a swimming pool, and an office with a Veterans Affairs person to provide support services. It is less than two miles from the Veterans Affairs clinic in New Port Richey on Little Road and located on a bus line.

Magnolia Oaks will have 34 units with one bedroom and 33 units with two bedrooms for veterans who need in-home caregivers. There will also be 10 units with three bedrooms for veterans who have children with families.

Such projects often turn to brochure printing to provide more details about amenities, features, and other special offerings.

This project is being carried out by the Pasco County Housing Authority (PCHA), which is an agency independent of the county government. It is supported by fund from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and rent from tenants.

Chairman of the board of PCHA, David Lambert, said that funding for the project, which will cost $20 million, will be made possible by help from HUD, federal non-HUD funds, the state of Florida through the Department of Veterans Affairs, and Pasco County Community Development.
