Jacksonville celebrates art
The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville will be hosting a free MOCA Fall Arts Celebration that will be open to the public in mid-October.
Beginning at noon, a brunch-stye opening will have live music, a cash bar, and light bites. Many patrons use opening times like this for networking and bring plenty of business cards.
At 12:30 pm in the Atrium Gallery, local artists Dustin Harewood and Shaun Thurston and their apprentices will begin painting a mural. Guests may ask questions. Visitors can return to the museum over the weeks that follow to watch the mural evolve. The mural can be viewed until February 15th, 2026.
The Triennial Awards Ceremony will kick off at 1:00 pm with 64 Jax Contemporary Triennial artists recognized. Awards will include the James W. Doyle Prize for Best in Show, Visiting Curator's Choice, and People's Choice Award. These Northeast Florida artists express themselves through many diverse media.
At 1:30 pm, there will be a meet-and-greet with Sebastian Vallejo, a Puerto Rican artist known for his layered textures, vibrant colors, and emotional depth. Here, guests may ask questions and view his work Where the Wild Zephyrs Sleep, which will be on display at the museum until February 22, 2026.
Museum gift shops often have printing services duplicate their exhibitions on postcards.
The MOCA Fall Arts Celebration will take place on Saturday, October 18 from noon to 2:00 pm at MOCA Jacksonville, 333 North Laura Street.
