Jacksonville runs charity 5k

The Fraternal Order of Police Jacksonville will be presenting its fifth annual Hope Starts Here 5k here in Jacksonville toward the end of May.

The community is invited to run or walk through the Springfield neighborhood and parts of the scenic Emerald Trail.

Families, and community groups often show their solidarity by getting colorful matching T-Shirts printed with their names or logo designs at nearby Print shops.

Proceeds from the 5k will go to Operation New Hope, an organization that's mission is to help those who have been incarcerated to reenter the community through workforce development, mental health services and job placement.

The 5k will start at 8:00 am followed by a 1-mile Fun Run at 9:00 am. The venue will also feature mission-focused programming and on-site community engagement.

Registration for the 5k is $39.44 from now until April 30, $44.79 from then until May 22, and $55.49 after that. The Fun Run costs $18.04 until April 30th, $23.39 from then until May 22nd and $28.74 thereafter.

Four sponsorship levels are available - Hope at $500, Inspire at $1000, Transform at $2000 and Champion at $5000. All levels will receive logos or names on race T-Shirts, on the event webpage and on the event's digital promotional materials. The top three levels will also get the opportunity to place Promotional Products into the swag Bags.

Hope Starts Here 5Kk will begin at Operation New Hope, 1830 N Main Street on Saturday, May 23.
