Local runners will be heading to Downtown Jacksonville to take on the annual Vestcor 5k Bridges Run.
The course will be a scenic route through Jacksonville, where runners can enjoy a blend of riverfront vistas and city architecture.
Registration will be $40 for the 5k and $20 for the one-mile fun run from September 1 to 19, and $50 for the 5k and $25 for the one-mile fun run on race day. Packets not picked up on these two days will be available on site immediately before the race.
Free beer, finisher medals, drawings for prizes, and food from Chick-fil-A will await runners at the finish line. Awards will go to the top three female and male overall finishers, and top master female and male. Awards will also go to the top three female and male finishers in each of 16 age categories. Races like this often use local printing services to create racing bibs.
Proceeds from this event will go to the Vestcor Family Foundation, which uses funds to support local nonprofits like the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Florida, Museum of Science and History, and North Florida School of Special Education.
The Vestcor 5k Bridges Run will take place on Saturday, September 20 at Lofts at Lofts at LaVilla near the Prime Osborn Convention Center on Water Street. The one-mile run will begin at 8:00 am, followed by the 5k at 8:30 am.
