The Soil and Water Conservation District of Lake County, which includes towns of Clermont and Tavares, has kicked off its annual Poster Contest for school age residents. This year, the theme is “We All Need Trees”.
This annual event is open to children in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade who are enrolled in a public, private, or home school. The event allows students to open up their creative minds and share their ideas on conservation, including water, trees, and other natural resources. It is possible that the winning Posters from this event will be duplicated by a local poster printing company and displayed in various locations throughout the county.
Among the criteria that must be met is each poster must have the words “We All Need Trees” written on it. The Posters must be 22" x 28" and be accompanied by a completed entry form signed by a parent or guardian. The county also recommends that Posters have colors that will grab attention, be easily readable, and not be cluttered with words but simply contain brief and catchy messages.
The Posters will be judged on four criteria: conservation message, originality, visual effectiveness, and universal appeal. The categories for judging are split into five groups: K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.
If a student’s poster is chosen as first place in their category, it will then move to the next level, which is the Area Contest, and then on to the State Contest and National Contest levels.
Entry deadline is November 5 and winners will be announced on November 17. Hopefuls may download a flyer and an entry form from the Lake Country website.Get a Free Quote for Posters
