Mike Purzycki, the mayor of Wilmington, recently announced that a collaborative organization has been formed to help improve the city.
The Wilmington Alliance comprises the Wilmington Renaissance Corporation (WRC), and the Wilmington Leaders Alliance (WLA), both of which are influential, long-established organizations that play a leading part in the economic growth, revitalization, and future opportunities for Wilmington. The new alliance intends to put emphasis on the importance of nonprofit organizations, and of the business community, to the city's continued development.
The WLA's board chair, There du Pont, said the Alliance's member organizations were excited to use their years of experience to increase the economic growth of Wilmington. He noted that the two organizations together have over 30 years of success in taking down obstacles to growth, creating opportunities, and attracting investors, as well as improving conditions for those who do business, live, and work in Wilmington. He noted that the organizations' workforce development program has a 92% employment rate, and the improvements that have been made to the city have contributed to it becoming a cultural and educational hub. The new Wilmington Alliance hopes to continue these trends.
