In the downtown area of the city, occupancy rates for apartments seem high. A survey conducted by MPF Research has indicated that new apartments seem to be especially in demand.
Martin Hageman, a director at Downtown Visions, told The News Journal:
“Millennials talk about convenience. If they were living in Philadelphia or New York, they would be paying much more for an apartment that is not as nice. In Wilmington, they can live where they work and enjoy a lot of culture and social benefits.”
Debbie Schwartz, a local property manager, has revealed that she has a waiting list for one of her units. Rents in the city are reportedly more buoyant than in some other parts of Delaware. Mr. Hageman has said that downtown has become more popular since the Buccini/Pollin Group made a difference to the riverfront.
