Newtown theatre to show nature documentary

The Newtown Theatre and Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve will hold an event in May where people can watch a documentary screening.

My Garden of a Thousand Bees is a film by Martin Dohrn that documents the variety of wild bees that visited his garden. The movie was made during the pandemic and records behaviors from over 60 species of bees. Dohrm has directed many series, including The Secret Lives of Big Cats, Terra Mater, and Age of Big Cats. He also worked on a project about ants that won several awards. Dohrn was even the cinematographer for shows like Great Migrations and Night of the Hunt.

The Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve is a native plant nursery located in New Hope, Pennsylvania. The gardens at the facility are home to over 200 native plant species. The preserve offers educational experiences to guests to help them learn about the importance of native plant life. Peter Couchman is the executive director of the organization. He went to the School of Professional Horticulture at the New York Botanical Garden and was the head gardener at High Glen Gardens.

The documentary will be shown on Tuesday, May 14th from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Tickets to the screening can be bought for $12, and discounts are available for seniors, students, and Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve members. Theatres that hold similar screenings may use flyer printing to advertise their shows in advance.
