The Annual Newtown Holiday Parade is returning to State Street this December.
Before the parade, there will be activities and snacks for spectators. These include balloons, face painting, candy, hot cocoa, and other warm beverages. The route starts at the Stocking Works on South State Street, crosses Washington Avenue onto Sycamore Street and ends at the intersection of Sycamore and Durham Road. Announcers will be located toward the end of the route near the Green Parrot.
The parade will be holiday movie-themed, and both participants and spectators are invited to dress up as popular characters like Buddy the Elf, The Grinch, or Cindy Lou Who. Attendees are asked not to wear Santa costumes to avoid confusion with the parade Santa, who will be riding a fire truck at the end of the lineup.
Newtown Business Association is accepting applications for participants and sponsors. Demand for participation is high, so businesses and organizations should sign up for the waiting list. The organizers will contact them once their participation is approved. Pre-decorated floats will be available for a fee for organizations that do not have them, although the number is limited. Parade participants often use printing services to create Signs to carry while marching.
The Newtown Holiday Parade will take place on Sunday, December 7 from 12:15 pm to 3:15 pm.
