Newtown Borough will host its second annual Wine Walk event this spring.
The Wine Walk is a fundraiser for the historic Newtown Theatre. Participants will start by checking in at the Theatre and picking up their wine passports. They can then visit 15 downtown shops, which will each be serving different wine samples. Wine stops will include Countryside Gallery & Framing, Grapevine Natural Grocery, Luxe Proshop, Newtown Book and Record Exchange and Tubby Olive. The full list is available on the Theatre’s website.
Tickets will only be sold on the Theatre’s website, not at the box office. They are available now for $58.99 per person. Participants will need to show their tickets and photo IDs when checking in. Along with the wine passport and a guide to Newtown Borough restaurants, participants will receive goodie Bags and popcorn. Organizers often work with Stationery printers to design these materials. Wine tasters are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes for walking between the stops and to dress for the weather, as the event will go on rain or shine.
Proceeds from the walk will support the Newtown Theatre. The building was originally constructed as a town hall in 1831, and it showed its first film in 1906. It now shows a mix of movies and live performances.
The Newtown Wine Walk will be on Saturday, May 16, from 12 pm to 4 pm, starting at the Newtown Theatre.
