The Newtown Public Library will hold an activity in July where children can learn about the Public Works Department.
The Public Works Visit is a program where kids can learn about their community by visiting the Newtown Square Public Works Department. The outing will bring attendees to the public works building behind the library and introduce them to the department's trucks. The event is part of the Amazing Learners series at the library, which is a program that takes children on field trips to locations like Bartram's Covered Bridge, the Railroad Museum, and the Newtown Square Fire Company.
The Newtown Square Public Works Department is an organization that is responsible for maintaining the community's infrastructure. The group looks after community walking trails, sanitary sewer systems, street signals, and over 50 miles of roads. The department is also in charge of the town's recycling efforts and snow removal. Joseph Schiavoni is the director of the organization. People can contact the group for help with downed trees and other local emergencies.
The field trip will take place on Tuesday, July 16th from 11:00 am to 11:45 am. Registration for the program will open to library patrons on Tuesday, June 25th at 11:00 am. All participants should register for the activity in advance. Libraries that offer similar educational excursions for children can promote their community trips with poster printing services.
