Zaniac Greenwich, an organization that endeavors to make science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fun and engaging for kids in grades kindergarten through grade eight, will be opening two new campuses in August and early September.
One of these will be in Westport, and the other in Manhattan in the Upper East Side.
Zaniac Greenwich is part of a national company, and entered the northeast when Greenwich residents Flavia Naslausky and Camilla Gazal opened the campus in Greenwich in December 2013. Since then, about 500 students have signed up for the program, and 300 are in its summer camp.
Activities with which the kids are involved include robotics using LEGO, 3D printing, computer programming, and game-based learning.
Both Naslausky and Gazal are professionals in the financial services industry, and mothers as well. They plan to add more locations to the New York metropolitan area, and commented that they wanted to open an enrichment center focused on the education of STEM subjects, as Zaniac had been a positive experience for their own children.
Their decision to expand was based on the enrollment at their facility. Many came from other communities in Fairfield County, as well as Westchester County and even New York City.
