Greenwich police department graduates women from self-defense class

A graduation ceremony was recently held by the Greenwich Police Department for the Women’s High School Students Awareness Class and the Women’s Self Defense Class for Spring 2018.

The program lasts for five weeks. Women between the ages of 18 and 55 and juniors and seniors from high school are eligible to participate in the program. The Greenwich Police Department hosts the class twice a week between 6:00 pm and 9:15 pm at its main headquarters.

Participants in the Women’s Self-Defense class learn techniques to help them overcome both physical and psychological situations and boost their confidence in situations where they need to defend themselves. Experienced and trained police officers from the Greenwich Police Department are the instructors for the class.

Graduating from the program this year were 16 women and 16 high school students.

A Women’s Self Defense Class for the fall is tentatively scheduled by the Greenwich Police Department and would begin in October.

The mission of the Greenwich Police Department is to cooperate with the community in providing public services and superior law enforcement. Its employees are encouraged to reach the highest levels of professional achievement.
