The Parks and Recreation Department of Greenwich is planning to develop the northeast corner of Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, which is on Greenwich Harbor.
The Department is looking to create a welcoming gateway and expand the views of the water while also providing access for vehicles and making the entire park accessible to the public.
Banner printing can be used at such sites to inform residents of such planned projects and their benefits.
Currently, the park is used by residents to attend the several annual events that are held at the park or to access the ferry service. However, the Department has people do not go to the park unless there is an event planned, so therefore do not take advantage of the many views of the water and the harbor. Additionally, there is no defined entrance to the park.
One aspect of the plan would be to include a pedestrian walkway along the edge of bulkhead to make the park more accessible, and to redesign the parking lot. There is also a large brick building used by the Department of Public Works in the park to store trucks and equipment, which blocks views of the waterfront. This would be removed and relocated, and as it has attached public bathrooms, there would also be public restrooms in the new design.
