Nominations are now open in Greenwich for the Treasured Tree Program.
This program is held by The Greenwich Tree Conservancy and highlights trees that are special on private properties to develop respect for the unique and beautiful trees that can be found in the community.
Trees that can be nominated can be on any private property in Greenwich, including that of a private school or religious organization. The selection of a Treasured Tree is based on having a special story or narrative, notable age and size, a unique shape, special spring flowers or fall foliage, and a pedigree species.
Judges for this year’s Treasured Tress are John Conte of Conte & Conte and Sam Bridge of Sam Bridge Nursery. Trees that are selected by the judges will get a nameplate installed on the base of the tree and be awarded a framed photograph of the nameplate. They will also be enrolled in the roster of Treasured Tress of the Greenwich Tree Conservatory.
Nominations for the Treasured Trees are due to the Greenwich Tree Conservancy by Sunday June 30. Poster printing can be used throughout town to make the community aware of such special programs and their benefits for everyone.
The winning Treasured Trees will be featured in a press release to local media and recognized at an event in the fall.
