Ephemera/39 will be coming to Old Greenwich in for one weekend later this month.
Sponsored by The Ephemera Society of America, this fair will showcase original historic documents that form the basis of today’s news and activities. These documents are usually paper items such as magazines, maps, photographs, and letters that people used. Many of these documents have become collectible items, although they were not considered so in their time. The fair will have exhibitors from 12 states displaying 10,000 items from all around the world that cover hundreds of years of history.
The organizer of the show, Marvin Getman, commented that even those who do not collect this sort of item are often intrigued by at least one item, which may lead to further interest in this area.
There will also be a conference the day before the fair presented by The Ephemera Society. There will be eight speakers that will discuss the theme of the immigrant experience of coming to America through the use of ephemera. Printing services can be used to create mailers to send out to those within and in surrounding communities to inform them of such special events.
Ephemera/39 will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel from Saturday, March 16 through Sunday March 17, with hours from 10:00 am through 5:00 pm on Saturday and 11:00 am through 4:00 pm on Sunday.
