The Greenwich Alliance for Education will be holding its annual Turkey Trot later this month.
The race is a combination of a 5K and a one-mile walk. For the 5K, awards will be given to the top three finishers in each of eight age groups, and for the overall top three female and male runners. Medals will be given to all finishers of the one-mile walk.
Those who register for the Run and Walk will get a T-shirt and goodie bag, which includes an offer of trial membership from the YMCA of Greenwich. The first 250 people who register will receive a $5 gift card from Garden Catering. The cost for pre-registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children under the age of 14. Children are encouraged to indicate their school when they register, as the school with the greatest number of participants will receive a $500 gift card for physical education equipment.
The Greenwich Alliance for Education, which offers three flagship programs and partners with community members and organizations to raise funds that benefit the students of the town, is most likely turning to flyer printing companies to promote this run/walk and encourage participation from both adults and children.
The one-mile walk will begin on Saturday, November 28 at 9:30 am, and the 5K at 10:00 am. The Greenwich Track Club will be holding group warmup and stretching exercises beginning at 9:00 am.
