The Greenwich Brewing Company is now open.

Located on Greenwich Avenue, the family-friendly craft beer bar and eatery is a joint venture of 10 residents in the area. The founder in Randy Kemka. Kemka said that the menu has only a few items that cost more than $20 so the hope is that everyone finds the new eatery affordable.

Kemka said that the brewing is done off site. Zoning regulations prevented him from making the beer on Greenwich Avenue but the goal is to find somewhere in Greenwich so the beer can be made in the community. One of its featured brews will be a red ale to be called “Cardinal Red’ to honor the mascot of Greenwich High School.

The Greenwich Brewing Company will also be coming out with a line of spirits from a distillery in Florida. It will have the label, “Greenwich 1640.”

The décor of the establishment has a sailing theme. The logo of the brewery is its name spelled out with nautical flags. Such logo designs often reflect an establishment’s brand and help to promote it throughout the community.

Four beers will be offered with the opening, but a wider selection will be forthcoming. Kemka said that the beers it makes will also be coming to retail stores and other venues across Connecticut in the future.
