The next event planned as part of Greenwich’s 375th anniversary festivities is a parade to commemorate the founding of the town.
There will be more than 300 marchers, many of whom are descendants of the founding families of the town, as well as representatives from civic and nonprofit organizations, including the Cos Cob VFW, Junior League of Greenwich.
Colonial style uniforms will be worn by the Second Company of the Governor’s Foot Guard, and a Fife and Drum Corps will play.
There will also be nine marching bands, Clydesdale horses, eleven floats, horse-drawn coaches, antique automobiles, vintage and modern fire trucks, and a large United States flag measuring 50x100 feet in size.
This town has planned a range of programs and events throughout the year to honor the cultural heritage and rich history of Greenwich in this milestone year. Bells rang throughout the town at 1:00 pm on New Year’s Day to kick off these events.
The parade will begin at 2:00 pm on September 27, starting at Town Hall and following Greenwich Avenue, heading past the Greenwich Commons entrance where there will be a Reviewing Stand, and then onto Bolling Place into Lower Havemeyer Field.
