Fairfield county food bank benefits from run walk

The Run Walk for Health and Hunger will be held in Greenwich later this month.

The course, which will be 5K in length and is certified by the United States Athletic Track and Field, will travel through Stamford and Cove Beach Park roadways. Proceeds of the event will benefit The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, and it is the only such event that supports the fight against hunger. All of the fund and net proceeds raised by the teams will go towards the Food Bank.

There will be refreshments and an awards presentation after the Run Walk. In conjunction with the event, the 4th Annual Stamford Hospital Health Wellness and Sports Expo will be taking place at Chelsea Piers. Stamford Hospital will be providing complimentary health screenings, activities will be offered for children, and more than 90 exhibitors will be on hand. Many may hand out promotional Pens so that attendees can remember the valuable services they provide.

Sponsors of the Run Walk include Stamford Hospital and EBMAS CT Martial Arts and Palmer’s Market; expo sponsors Microsoft, CVS Health, and Grade A ShopRite; and media sponsors News 12 Connecticut, 95.9 Fox, News 12 Connecticut, and Stamford Magazine/Moffly Media.

The Run Walk will be on Saturday, October 17, beginning at 8:30 am. It will officially be started by Mayor David Martin of Stamford.
